Social eating and your score

One big meal is a smaller factor than diet culture usually makes it feel.

Holidays, birthdays, weddings and family dinners are exactly the moments diet culture struggles with most — either you "break the rules" or you sit out the celebration. Neither is a great option.

Why one occasion barely moves a rolling average

A single celebratory meal, even a rich one, is one data point in a 7-day average built from 21 or more meals plus sleep, alcohol, exercise and stress inputs. Mathematically, it's a small nudge, not a derailment.

The bigger risk is the surrounding days

What tends to actually move a score is a whole holiday week of disrupted sleep, daily drinking and no movement — the single big meal is rarely the real story. Protecting sleep and moderate movement around a celebration matters more than what's on the plate during it.

Enjoy the occasion. It's genuinely a smaller factor than diet culture usually makes it feel.
